This presentation seeks to describe a path to better identify neural correlates of consciousness, in the hard problem sense, leveraging the transformational impact of past and future growth in digital technologies. The presentation will summarize representative research around neural signatures of various types of mental states and processes. The presentation will then summarize how advances from Moore's Law and other technology trends affect EEG technology and how, together with new software tools such as A.I. and machine learning, these advances improve the identification and characterization of mental states and processes. The presentation will offer some data and some predictions based on the effect of Moore's Law and other developments in the price/performance of EEG equipment. Finally, the presentation will present an extrapolation from this analysis in order to suggest some possible directions to better identify and measure neural correlates of consciousness, in the hard problem sense of the term, given a more capable toolkit of technologies to bring to bear on the problem.
